Role & scope

02

The problem

Make deliberate, high-difficulty action readable and responsive on a portrait mobile screen while giving ten selectable characters distinct combat identities and keeping real-time switching within a three-character party clear.

03

Key decisions

  • 01

Set the product direction around deliberate attack windows, boss-pattern reading, and clear consequences instead of frictionless auto-combat.

  • 02

Structured the ten-character roster around distinct combat identities, while party composition, real-time switching, matchups, active skills, and passive traits created meaningful tactical choices.

  • 03

Aligned the portrait presentation, combat feedback, and frame-travelling world concept so the fiction supported the moment-to-moment play.

04

Execution

  • 01

Directed cross-functional implementation across character mechanics, encounters, interface, content, and visual communication.

  • 02

Reviewed playable builds around timing, telegraph readability, character differentiation, and the clarity of switching during combat.

  • 03

Personally sourced the Japanese voice-over studio, coordinated feedback across multiple recording revisions, and handled final acceptance of the delivered voice-over assets.

  • 04

Coordinated briefs, feedback, delivery expectations, and timelines across internal contributors and freelancers in multiple regions.

  • 05

Kept the steampunk and science-fiction setting connected to the environments, bosses, and investigation premise as the project moved toward release.

05

Outcome

  • 01

Released publicly for iOS and Android in October 2024.

  • 02

Delivered a second released Minidragon action title with a clearly different combat proposition from Tiny Fantasy.

  • 03

Combined a ten-character roster, real-time three-character party switching, boss-focused action, and portrait play in one coherent public product.

06

Case focus

Game direction across combat positioning, character differentiation, cross-regional production coordination, and public mobile release.
